On 18 April, the Darius Brubeck Quartet plays a fundraising concert for the Archive. It celebrates the music of Darius’ father, Dave Brubeck, in particular, the 60th anniversary of Time Out, one of the greatest jazz albums of all time and the first to sell a million copies. It’s the album that includes the iconic ‘Take Five’. The Quartet also present their latest album Live in Poland, in which Darius retraced his father’s 1958 tour in the country, and features compositions by Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Hugh Masekela and Darius himself.
With Darius will be Brandon Allen on tenor sax, Matt Ridley on bass and Wesley Gibbens on drums.
The concert is at Loughton Methodist Church, 260 High Road, Loughton, Essex IG10 1RB, and begins at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £20 and can be ordered here.
